Dear Families of Twelve Mile Coulee,
The excitement is starting to brew as the winter break creeps nearer—only two weeks left of school before the holidays! Everyone is looking forward to some well-deserved rest and relaxation. Please remember that our last day of classes will be December 20, 2024, and our first day back will be January 6, 2025.
This week, we experienced a lovely surprise as we welcomed some sweet little learners from Edgemont School. Due to a water issue in their building, students and staff were redeployed to nearby schools. The students and staff at TMC were extremely welcoming and helpful to everyone, and we are all proud to be part of such a caring environment. Special thanks to Ms. Senholt and Ms. Hudson for organizing the creation of a welcome banner with the Edgemont eagle and for the welcome signs on the classroom doors used by Edgemont students.
We are also pleased to share that the School Development Plan for Twelve Mile Coulee is now complete and available on our website. The three main goals for the school are:
- To improve student fluency with number sense.
- To enhance student reading comprehension through the explicit teaching of inferencing strategies.
- To foster students’ understanding and experience of respect.

Students who are participating in the SEAS Trip in May 2025 have been meeting and preparing. Letters of commitment will be sent home with families next week, so if your child is on the list to attend, please keep an eye out for that. A big thank you to the families who attended the recent meeting about fundraising opportunities to help offset the costs. We will share more chances to support these students soon.
Are you missing clothing or a water bottle? Our Lost and Found is bursting with student items! Please remind your child to check for missing belongings. These items will be available for pick-up until December 20, 2024, after which they will be packed up and donated.

- Spirit Week: One of the Grade 8 leadership classes has planned some fun activities for the last week of school before winter break. Here’s the schedule:
- Monday, December 16: Pajama Day – Candy Grams for sale
- Tuesday, December 17: Twin Day – Candy Grams for sale, Christmas movie at lunch
- Wednesday, December 18: Wear red, white, or green – School Treasure Hunt, Christmas movie at lunch
- Thursday, December 19: Christmas Sweater Day – Delivery of Candy Grams, Hot Chocolate for sale
- Friday, December 20: Crazy Hat Day More details will follow in a separate message from Grade 8 Leadership.
- Servery: Mr. Taylor will soon be accepting applications for student support as he prepares to begin serving hot lunches in January. The servery will once again be selling punch cards, which can be purchased through your MyCBE account. Keep an eye out for upcoming menus and prices.
- Volleyball Tryouts: January 6, 2025. Please check the school website for more detailed information regarding tryout times for specific groups.
Reminder: Water is the best way to keep students hydrated, and we will continue to allow only water bottles in the classrooms. Sugary drinks, such as 2-liter bottles of pop, slushies, and energy drinks, are not allowed. Any other drinks should be kept in lockers.
