Attendance Line: 403-817-3390 press 1

If students are going to be absent from school, we ask that parents call the school and leave a message on our attendance line. Excessive absences or lates are referred to school administration and all absences and lates are documented in student files.

Procedures & Expectations

As outlined in the School Act it is the responsibility of the parent and/or guardian to ensure that their child attends school regularly and on time and to inform the school of all changes to a student's regular anticipated attendance. Attendance is taken first thing in the morning and after lunch. The school must verify all absences. We would ask that all parents/guardians support us with accurate tracking of daily attendance by notifying the office before 8:45 AM if their child is going to be absent for the day or part of the day.

Lates

We require students who are late to school for any reason to report to the office to sign in. An excused late is defined as being late for school because of an appointment.

Leaving School

Students must follow our sign-out procedures if they become ill at school. Please see our Security page for more information.

Extended Absences

It is important for parents/guardians to be aware that extended absences from school can have a significant impact on student learning and achievement. Please inform the office of absences of more than five days well in advance of the extended absence. A “vacation letter” will be placed in the student file and a copy will be sent home with the student. Upon request, teachers may provide students with work to be completed prior to and/or while on vacation and additional work and/or assignments will likely be required upon their return.

Attendance Expectations at the CBE

Regular and punctual attendance is foundational to student learning, academic achievement and long-term success. The CBE Administrative Regulation 6020 - Attendance of Students applies to all students, and outlines the responsibilities for students, parents and school staff.
