Active/Healthy Lifestyle
Students participate in Physical Education and have DPA (daily physical activity) each week. At Twelve Mile Coulee we encourage students to make wise choices regarding the foods they eat. Junk food is discouraged. We appreciate parents supporting us in ensuring students have healthy snacks and lunches at school. When possible we would also like to avoid extra garbage and wrappers associated with junk food (slurpee cups, chip bags, etc).
Nutrition Break
Students have a scheduled break each morning from 10:26 to 10:38 AM, Monday to Thursday, and from 10:34-10:44 AM on Fridays. It is recommended that students bring a small nutritious snack and water for this break. Grade 5 and 6 students are expected to go outside during the break (weather permitting). Please ensure your child(ren) are dressed appropriately. Grade 7-9 students may go outside or gather in common areas during this break.
Health & Wellness at the CBE
At the CBE, we believe in a whole school approach to health and wellness. We call this our Comprehensive School Health (CSH) approach. CSH is about healthy eating, active living, supportive social environments and positive mental health. As a system, we focus on the following four areas: healthy eating; healthy relationships; physical activity; and positive mental health. Each school creates its own approach and goals for health and wellness.
