Our Programs
Regular Program at the CBE
Even though most of our schools offer a regular program, no two are quite the same. All schools teach according to Alberta Education’s mandated curriculum, however a school’s focus, optional courses and school activities are as unique as every school.
Homework
To promote the development of effective study habits, we suggest that students, in consultation with their parents, set up an environment that facilitates both home study and daily reading.
In Grades 5 and 6, homework will take a variety of forms. In some cases tasks are designed to have a home component, or will need to be worked on at home outside of class time. It is important that students use blogs, D2L, etc to support their learning, so that they can check in on task due dates, related information, and get supporting documents if needed. We encourage students to have conversations at home to support/extend the learning that is happening, along with current events, review, and reading. It is helpful if students spend 20-30 minutes. Students requiring additional instruction or support may contact their teacher to schedule a meeting for assistance with their studies.
In Grades 7, 8, and 9, expectations increase, and students may need to spend up to an hour on school work per night. Homework will take a variety of forms.
