As the school year comes to a close, we are excited to celebrate the achievements of our grade 9 students as they prepare to embark on their high school journey. The grade 9 farewell is a longstanding tradition at TMC and we can't make it great without a bit of help from our fantastic volunteers. We have a few opportunities that still need filling. If you can help out with any of the positions below please reach out to Kennedy Whitby at klwhitby@cbe.ab.ca. Remembering that we will have grade 9's at some point and we will need to ask for volunteers then.

World Refugee Day
Diversity is one of our greatest strengths. CBE proudly stands as a place of inclusion and compassion, honoring and acknowledging the courageous journeys of refugees who have sought safety and hope in our city. Each year on June 20, the world celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution. The theme for 2024 World Refugee Week is “Our Home,” which reminds us that home can be more than one place and finding it can be a journey.
Reminder | Important Dates

National Indigenous Peoples' Day on June 21, 2024
June 21 is National Indigenous Peoples' Day, and June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Métis and Inuit in Canada.
This year's theme, "inspiring our youth for change," aligns with Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary and the City of Calgary. It aims to empower the next generation of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples to reclaim and instill pride, cultural knowledge, and education in our communities. This can be achieved by being positive role models and continuing our collective journey through Truth and Reconciliation.
Our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and Indigenous Education is year-round. In line with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, CBE and TMC School are committed to promoting and actioning Education for ReconciliACTION. As we observe National Indigenous History Month and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, we renew our dedication to learning, celebrating, and honouring Indigenous cultures and resilience. On June 21, we will share our Truth and Reconciliation Commitments to Action. Together, we are working to ensure that each Indigenous student experiences improved well-being and achievement and that all students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous histories and contributions. Join us in celebrating National Indigenous History Month and our ongoing journey toward Truth and Reconciliation.
TMC Celebration of Learning – June 21, 2024
