Dear TMC Titan Students, Parents and Guardians,

So nice to have a lovely sunny day today! There is a ton of stuff going on over the next few weeks, with information items below!

National Indigenous History Month

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to learn about the unique cultures, traditions and experiences of First Nations, Métis and Inuit in Canada.

This year's theme, "inspiring our youth for change," aligns with Aboriginal Awareness Week Calgary and the City of Calgary. It aims to empower the next generation of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples to reclaim and instill pride, cultural knowledge, and education in our communities. This can be achieved by being positive role models and continuing our collective journey through Truth and Reconciliation

Our commitment to Truth and Reconciliation and Indigenous Education is year-round. In line with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's Calls to Action, CBE is committed to promoting and actioning Education for ReconciliACTION. As we observe National Indigenous History Month and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day, we renew our dedication to learning, celebrating, and honouring Indigenous cultures and resilience. Schools and service units will revisit and share their Truth and Reconciliation Commitments to Action. Together, we are working to ensure that each Indigenous student experiences improved well-being and achievement and that all students gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Indigenous histories and contributions. Join us in celebrating National Indigenous History Month and our ongoing journey toward Truth and Reconciliation.

World Refugee Day

Each year on June 20, the world celebrates the strength and courage of people who have been forced to flee their home country to escape conflict or persecution.
The theme for 2024 World Refugee Week is 'Our Home', which reminds us that home can be more than one place and finding it can be a journey. Click on the link below for ideas of how to participate by exploring how we can make “Our Home" a more welcoming, safe and respectful place for all.

TMC Celebration of Learning – June 21, 2024

Our TMC Celebration of Learning will take place on Friday June 21, 2024. It is our last student Friday of the year and PATs will be done as of Wednesday June 19.  Families are welcome to come to TMC for a Gallery Walk style event from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm on Friday afternoon.

This is meant to be a positive school culture celebration of the great work students have engaged in over the past few months. It is optional to attend if you would like to come see more of what your students have been working on. Teachers will be in meetings and will not be available to meet with parents.
