Dear TMC Titan Students, Parents and Guardians,
Hi everybody! I am so glad to be back in the saddle again! The best comment I heard from a (younger) student was “Mr. R, you’re back! We thought maybe you were dead!” J Nope, I am still alive an kicking! I hope you all had a great and safe Spring Break, and in coming back I am bigtime into planning for the 2024-25 school year already! We are almost a quarter into this century… Wowsers!
Youth Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) Finals
The grade 9 students and teachers at Twelve Mile Coulee School are getting excited for their YPI Finals! The finals are scheduled for April 12th, 2024 at 10:45 AM. Twelve Mile Coulee School has been participating in YPI for five years, having donated a total of $20,000 to local charities, all based on the research, learning and advocacy of our grade 9 students each year. Parents are more than welcome to come and watch the final 6 presentations, as we will crown the winning presentation for their charity.
March Mammal Madness
March Mammal Madness continued while we were on break, with upsets a plenty. We are waiting to hear on the finals with the MMM Title on the line as the Giant Squid will face off against the Great White Shark. 7.4% of TMC students picked the Giant Squid to win it all and 10.4% favored the Great White Shark! Currently James J from grade 7 has the best bracket in the school, but with a big 13 points on the line for choosing the winner, anyone on the school leaderboard still has a chance to win!
TMC School Council Meeting
On Thursday, April 4, 2024, we will be having our regular School Council Meeting, and Mrs. Jana Macdonald, the Principal from Bowness High School, will be joining us to share about BHS and transitions and such. All TMC parents are welcome to join us at 7:00 pm in the Learning Commons.
Monty Python’s Spamalot Musical
If you have not heard, TMC students and teachers are working hard learning and practicing for our theatrical production of Monty Python’s Spamalot, which is based on the Broadway Musical. The performance will take place in May, and I can’t wait!
Spring Fling Dance!
Grade 7 Leadership has spent the last several weeks planning a Spring Fling Dance! We are hoping to go ahead with the Spring Fling on April 18th. It is a Thursday afternoon, and the dance would run from 2:00-3:00pm for students who want to go cut a rug, and there will be alternate activities for students who do not care to dance.
Educationally yours,
Mr. R J
