23-11-03 TMC Announcements | Digital Citizenship, Social Media, Remembrance Day, Lost & Found, Fall Break, Spirit Wear, Parent Night, Food Bank Drive

Dear TMC Titan Students, Parents and Guardians,

I hope everyone had a safe and fun Halloween! I even heard of a house handing out Pokemon cards and another handing out Marvel Comics! How cool is that???

Digital Citizenship Reminders

In our Titan Leadership Summit meetings today we discussed Digital Citizenship, which is having the knowledge, skills, and attitudes needed to show responsible & respectful behaviour when using tech or participating in digital environments. A digital citizen models being Respectful, Ethical, Informed, Involved, Balanced, Safe, and being Responsible. Block someone if needed. Talk to your parents or your teacher is someone is cyberbullying you or a friend, is doing something illegal, or is sharing photos or videos that are just not okay.

If you would not send that message with your mom or your dad looking over your shoulder, then don’t send it…

Social Media Tips

  • Use social media to buildup your friends. Friends support each other and treat each other with respect.
  • Schedule in-person interaction. Nothing can take the place of spending actual facetime with people.
  • Don’t air your dirty laundry to the world.
  • Use social media moderately. Do not revolve your life around likes and comments. And don’t incessantly check your SM. It is bad for your mental health. Love yourself, know your worth, move, eat healthy, and spend time with friends and family.
  • Encourage or compliment at least one person everyday
  • Schedule your social media usage daily. If you check your accounts every time you grab your phone, you are on social media too much.
  • Block or unfollow if you want to if it is negative!
  • You Can Keep Your Opinions to Yourself. Keep your unsolicited opinion to yourself. You don’t need to make an issue out of everything you disagree with
  • Choose Your Friends Wisely. You do not have to accept every friend request or follow every person who requests it.
  • Social media is not the place to address conflicts – If you have an issue, deal with it in person.
  • Remember that social media can be forever – Don’t deal with regret years down the road for something you impulsively shared online today. Social media is very public.
  • Apply the same values you apply to real life – Don’t insult people. Don’t be a bully. If you wouldn’t say something to someone’s face, don’t say it to them online. Be kind… 
