Dear Twelve Mile Coulee families,
It is already the last week of October. Hard to imagine how quickly the month has passed. There are several announcements and acknowledgements to share.
TMC Remembers
As part of our Remembrance Day assembly on November 7, we would like to honor any family members or family friends that have served in Canada’s Armed Forces, by having them included in our Titan Tributes slideshow that will play on the hallway screens on November 7. If you have participated in previous years, we have kept those pictures so you don't have to send them again.
If you would like to submit a photo of a family member or friend that has served in Canada's military, please include:
- A photo
 - Name and Rank
 - Division or Unit (if known)
 - Where they have served or are serving (if known)
 - The name of the student and their relationship to the individual.
 - Any interesting information that you would care to share.

If you wish to have a family member recognized, please email those photos to Steve Martin (samartin@cbe.ab.ca) no later than November 5.
Music Camp Volunteer November 18 and 19
We are looking for one more parent volunteer. If you are available to enjoy this musical experience with students in a workshop setting with our grade 8 and 9 students, please contact Ms. Thornborough at the school.
Halloween
Our leadership students are actively planning a fun day for students. Students are permitted to wear costumes. Guideline considerations for costume creativity:
Costumes must be appropriate for a grade 6 – 9 school setting
No masks – staff must be able to identify students
Accessories – no accessories such as weapons, wands etc.
TMC Student Support of TMC Events at Other Schools
As per Calgary Board of Education Guidelines, students from TMC wishing to support our students at other schools must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.
Professional Development Day Oct. 25
Staff participated in a very productive day on Friday preparing the School Development Plan (SDP) as it enters a new three year cycle. The SDP examines data from a multitude of sources: surveys, student achievement results etc. to determine the focus of the school for the remainder of this year and moving into the next two. Each professional development day for the remainder of the year is designed to support the goals and outcomes identified in the SDP. On Friday afternoons, Professional Learning Communities continue the focus presented in the PD days as all staff work together in support of student learning.
It is important to note that the SDP’s starting point is “Looking back to move forward.” The data summarizing the impact of the work of the past three years is examined and assists in the design of what we need to continue and what needs to be considered as all staff work together across grades and across curriculums in support of student learning..
Thank you to School Council who ensured staff were well caffeinated, charged and ready to get to work on Friday. The coffee cart was appreciated and everyone agreed it was a very positive start to a productive day. Staff wish to extend their thanks for such a thoughtful gesture.
Security of our Front Doors
If you have visited the school recently, you may have noticed the front doors are locked. In compliance with CBE guidelines, our front doors will remain secured. Visitors may ring the bell for admittance to the school.
Thank you for your continued support of staff and students.
Sincerely,
Jackie Chapman-Brown
