24-01-13 TMC Announcements
Dear TMC Titan Students, Parents and Guardians,
It looks like we still have some cold weather ahead of us this week, so stay warm and be safe. Thankfully, I only saw about 10 or so older students coming in over the last two days only wearing hoodies, as I stood in the indoor vestibule door greeting them wearing my parka, toque and mitts…
Reminder – Monday January 15, 2024 PD Day for all CBE Schools
Monday will be a PD Day for all CBE schools, so there will be no classes for students.
Cold Weather Warnings
Brrrrrr… The cold weather is still around! Tuesday has a high of -24°C and a low of -33°C. Please remind your students to be smart and safe and how they dress for coming to school. Our doors open at 8:15 AM for students to come in, so please do not send the kids to school before that. As we live in Calgary, and weather conditions can change drastically between the start of a morning and nutrition, break or lunch, your students should always be prepared to go outside. We use a guideline of -20°C as to whether we stay in for an indoor nutrition break or an indoor lunch. If it is warmer than that, we will go outside and enjoy this wonderful Calgary weather! Thanks and be safe over the next few coming really cold days.

Black Excellence Day
January 15, 2024 is Black Excellence Day (was Black Shirt Day), which started in 2021 commemorating the birthday of Martin Luther King Jr. "Black Excellence Day" is both a day of education and remembrance, and an invitation to a conversation about racial injustice. We continue to educate students on issues such as these, and this is why I love public school, as we have students of every race, religion, creed and colour, and my belief is that the more kids see diversity, the more normal it becomes to accept and be understanding of racial differences.
Educationally yours,
Mr. R
